Frequently Asked Questions
How do electric car chargers work?
The main function of electric car chargers is to convert electricity from the grid so that the vehicle battery can be properly charged. Their operation varies depending on the type of current used (alternating or direct current) and the charging speed.

What types of electric car chargers are there?
Chargers are mainly classified into three types: slow chargingslow charging, which is done with a conventional household plug; semi-fast chargingsemi-fast charging, using Wallbox chargers installed in homes or businesses; and direct current (DC) fast chargingavailable at public stations as well as on highways for shorter recharging times. Each varies in power, charging time and installation location.

What type of charger do I need for my electric car?
It depends on your use of the vehicle. To charge at home in a comfortable and safe way, especially at night, the ideal is to install a Wallbox charger (semi-fast charging). For occasional loads, a conventional plug can be useful, but it is slower and less efficient. If you make long trips, you can complement it with the use of fast charging points in shopping malls or gas stations.
How long does it take to charge an electric car?
The loading time varies according to three factors: the type of charger, the capacity of the vehicle battery and the state of charge at start-up. On a household outlet (slow charge), it can take 8-20 hours. With a Wallbox charger (semi-fast charging), the time is reduced to 3-8 hours. In public stations with fast charging (DC), you can reach 80% battery in 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the power of the charger and the compatibility of the vehicle.

Can I charge my electric car at home? What electrical power do I need?
Yes you can charge your electric car at home and in fact it is the most common among users of these vehicles. You can do it by means of a standard household plug (slower option and less recommended for everyday use) or a Wallbox charger (installs on a garage wall or parking space and offers safer, faster and more efficient charging).
The electrical power depends on the desired charging speed and the power contracted with the utility company. For example, a 7.4 kW charger requires at least that much available power. Sometimes it is necessary to request an increase in power from the utility company.

Can electric car chargers use solar energy?
Yes, it is entirely possible to power an electric car charger with solar energy through a photovoltaic installation. This option allows you to reduce your electricity bill, take advantage of a clean energy source and increase the energy autonomy of your home or business.
Is periodic maintenance of the charger necessary?
In general, chargers do not require very complex maintenance. However, it is advisable to perform basic periodic inspections to ensure their proper operation and extend their useful life. This includes checking connections, cable condition, equipment cleanliness, checking the software and overall correct operation of the equipment. An annual check by an authorized installer is recommended.
