There are three types of silicon used: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monocrystalline silicon: High purity, higher efficiency and durability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Polycrystalline silicon: Lower purity and efficiency, but more economical.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amorphous silicon (for thin-film panels): Flexible, lightweight and less efficient.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>  Tempered glass<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The panel surface is covered by tempered glass that protects the solar cells from impact, dust and extreme weather conditions, such as hail or snow.
